Congratulations, you want to set up a website on the internet. You need a domain name (such as eprofithosting.com) and you need website hosting. That is, you need the pages of your website to "live somewhere" - and that somewhere is a server that is connected to the internet 24 hours a day.REGISTERING A DOMAIN NAME
You go to a site such as namecheap.com and register a domain name. It's a good idea to include the words that your target market is likely to type into Google when they are looking for what it is that your site will be providing. That's not essential but it's very helpful.
WEB HOSTING - WHAT TO CONSIDER
The hosting company you choose will be renting out space on their servers to you. You will upload your site's content from your computer to your disk space on their server. Since their servers are running 24x7, your web pages can be viewed on the internet by anybody at any time, even when your home computer is turned off.
So, what to look for?
UPTIME. Reliability is critical. You dont want your website to go offline just when you somehow score a mention on a popular site and a boatload of visitors turn up but your site has gone down because the web host isnt delivering 99.9% guaranteed uptime.
SUPPORT. You should choose a host with good customer support and a high level of technical expertise. How to determine that? Search Google for user reviews. You should be able to find whether customers are happy or unhappy with the company.
BANDWIDTH AND DISKSPACE. Disk space refers to how much room they allow you to store your files on their servers. Bandwidth refers to how much data your site can transfer. Bandwidth is used up every time that a visitor arrives at your site and the amount used depends on how many files need to be loaded to display a page at your site - and of course, how many pages the average visitor looks at.
I'm using Hostnine to host my sites and they offer unlimited diskspace and unlimited bandwidth. They didnt used to provide unlimited both but even then the numbers they provided were huge and I never ran out of diskspace or bandwidth... despite having dozens of sites on my one hosting account.

CPANEL. Another feature I insist on now is CPanel. It's the industry standard control panel so if you ever move to a different webhost, if they are also using CPanel, you immediately know your way around. If they dont, you might find yourself having to learn how to drive a new interface - and some of them are not intuitively obvious. At least, that's been my experience.
Reseller Hosting / Multiple IP Hosting
For my purposes, I choose their reseller hosting package so I can host my sites on multiple IP addresses. In case you're unfamiliar with the term, an IP address is a numeric address, a set of numbers that is much like a telephone number in that it identifies a particular location on the internet. The first few digits identify the country and the region, in the same way that the numbers are allocated in a fixed line telephone network.Since most people arent that good at remembering long numbers, "they" (the people who regulate the internet) came up with domain names - which are easier to remember.
