For the aveage Webmaster, SEO is something that only people with years of experience can master. As a Guaranteed Houston SEO, I believe part of this misunderstanding is because of all the misinformation taught by scores of people calling their self SEO experts. Some do this because they don’t have any idea what they’re talking about while many others do it because their Clients would stop paying them if they knew how easy it was to rank a web site. SEO is not brain surgery people. It’s nothing more than systematically building and optimizing a website the same way over and over to achieve high rankings.

To set the foundation for your website, you should make certain keywords are part of the web address if it’s possible. With everything being equal, a site with keywords in the domain name will rank higher than one without the keywords contained in the URL.

Next, the you keywords should be added in the Name of your Website. What this does is help the search engines figure out what your Website is about.

Keywords should also be placed in the Title of each article on your Website, or at least, some parts of a keyword phrase should be in the page Title. This too helps the search engines figure out what the subject of the page is, what it’s about and how relevant it is to the search term being searched for. Plus, the page Title should also be used in your H1 tag. Search engines give a great deal of value to the H1 tag and it’s important that your Page Title’s be inside H1 tags. Now that you have your domain, Website Title (Name) and Page Titles optimized with your keywords, it’s important that your keywords show up in the content of the page. I like to place the main keyword of the page somewhere in the first paragraph and several more times througout the article depending on the length. It’s also important to put it near the end of the page or article. A few more times between the first and last paragraph can’t hurt but don’t over do it, just be sure you work them at the first of the article and again at the end.

Last up, the most important aspect of Website SE Optimization actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in in getting a higher ranking in Google is backlinks going back to your site. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these links back to your site need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the links back to your site.

How important are backlinks? I have ranked quite a few Websites that didn’t have the keywords in the URL, plus I can rank one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored backlinks going to your web page, {it’s almost impossible} to rank a site in Google for any search phrases that are the least bit in demand.
