Internet Marketing Mistakes – Business Homocide
When you’re just beginning your internet marketing journey, it can quickly become quite confusing. Immediately you’re sitting in front of your monitor for 12-14 hours each day, when possible. You think you’re ‘working’, and of course you’re none the richer for it. You could spend years trying to learn Internet marketing, failing and ending up in debt more than earning anything out of it. And the end result can be much worse for those already in deep debt. A typical reason is people believe the gurus who say online marketing is easy and you can make a lot of money quickly. So many people mistakenly believe huge sums are possible within a month or two, and that it can be done with no effort at all.
But this is completely false. Yes there are millionaires who have made their fortune on the web, but they put their brains and sweat into it and made it work over the years by taking risks and applying what they learned. If you get stuck in the information loophole, you will only be reading, learning but aiming for nothing. And that is why it is critical that you are realistic. Set attainable goals, do the hard work, and you’ll be way out ahead of so many others. The rules are exactly the same if you want success online. Now let’s move into some of the more common missteps committed by those who are new to online marketing.
There’s a completely avoidable mistake that thousands upon thousands of marketers commit – they do NOT build a list of targeted and interested subscribers. Maybe you’ve been in business for years. That’s great! But if you have not built your own marketing list, then you really have not been building a business. If you begin to do email marketing, and you do it right, you’ll see more sales from first-time customers, repeat customers, and backend customers.
Another mistake that newbies make when they enter Internet marketing is that they join too many email lists and try to listen and follow every expert’s advice. This just gets them overwhelmed and confused. The emails end up piling up, each with its own great idea or strategy. Even if a lot of the information is great, having too much of it makes action impossible. The best thing to do in this case is to cut back on the number of lists you’re on; stay on the few that you think are most helpful and unsubscribe from the others. If you want to succeed, what’s really important is the action you take, not the amount of information on your hard drive. Taking action is the key to gaining more confidence. It’s inevitable that you will stumble at certain times, but just keep at it and success will be yours.
If you hope to succeed with IM, then make darn sure you have a solid plan. You’ll be fighting a losing battle if your planning is not effective. Write all your goals on paper and break them down into achievable goals, and work on them one step at a time.
